Temple Football Forever 
I was a mix of emotions when Golden left (surprised, then slighted, then critical of self for being surprised.) Still, its pretty exciting to see Temple finally starting to gain recognition and be connected with well-known, well-established programs/names. Especially with the potential lockout coming in 2011, if Temple can get through this transition year smoothly, win the mac and/or a bowl that doesn't have fast-food in its name, college football might start catching on in Philly proper. The linc painted red on saturdays, green on sundays. I don't know if I could even dare imagine it.
I consider myself an eternal optimist, but being a Temple fan since the 70's has afforded me the opportunity to appreciate the wisdom of pragmatism on far too many occasions. What are the facts? AG is gone, our 2011 recruiting class currently ranks in the bottom half of the MAC, and our new coach can't find coordinators who want to work for him and be at our beloved Temple. What should we reasonably expect? Maybe a winning season and a bowl bid? We had an eight win season last year and didn't get an invite. I'm forever hopeful colored by the facts
I feel your pain, Kent.I wouldn't worry about the recruiting class, though. Recruiting almost never affects the on-field product the next season.That's a couple of years down the line, since 80 percent of those guys are redshirted anyway.Addazio is not a slam-dunk hiring, but I'm optimistic because he can made up on the back end of the recruiting wars what he's losing on the front end.Plus, Golden has left the cupbard (spelling?, it's late) stocked with goodies.It's not all about Bernard Pierce, but a lot of it is.He's an elite, elite, talent who needs to stay on the field. A lot of that is luck. Hopefully, coach Daz will add one more RB recruit to the mix (Ryan Brumfield, Ryan Brumfield, Ryan Brumfield) who can step in and perform at the Pierce level. I don't know if Walker is that guy but if he's as good as Brumfield, he is.We won't do much better than last year if we have a 5-5, 150-pounder who is forced to be the primary back.
Please tell me if I am wrong, but I find it extremely concerning that SA has not hired any assistants beyond the two previously mentioned (line coach and strength coordinator). It is obvious that the other Florida assistants who have been relieved of their duties at UF are not at all interested in Temple. Also, I find it concerning that I have not heard much from SA in the media since his hiring. Can you update us? Is he in north philly? Is he out recruiting?
I am also concerned, too, however Daz is out recruiting this week and next week is the national coaches convention (coinciding with a one-week dead period of recruiting) and that's when I'm told the coaching hirings will take place.It's been a rough couple of first days for the Daz, IMHO.Hiring a strength coach from Marshall (who gets panned by Marshall fans in the comments of the story I posted) and also hiring a grad assistant to coach the offensive line.How are our kids supposed to respect a Florida grad assistant in such an important job?Also, Chuck Heater looking at every other job and using Temple as his fallback plan.Not a good first few days at all. …If Chuck doesn't want to be here, go after Nick Rapone after Delaware plays in the national championship game tomorrow night.

Coach Daz was out Wednesday beating the pavement visiting recruits..rumor has it his first stop was local..visiting a home grown recruit at Roman Catholic..a 6'3"-230 1st Team All-City and All-State player Jack Gallagher..fast and athletic ..being projected to be a SAM backer at Temple..coach Daz has a long way to go..bit he's off and running..
Thanks, Hollywood. Great to hear .. Just got word that Daz is also targeting a 6-3, 4.5-40 WR named Brundage out of Bradenton, Fla. In the bad news department, it looks like Al Golden is going after the RB who just committed to us. If we lose him, I hope Daz goes after Ryan Brumfield of Owen J. Roberts who is a Bernard Pierce-type talent.
Given the sudden plethora of four star quarterbacks in the area looking for new schools I would love to see vitamin A in action. PSU has two studs looking for schools as well as Rutgers latest defector. All of these guys have serious D1talent and any one could provide significant benefits to an owls team with a top notch backfield and several highly regarded WR recruits. Get going coach!
