Big picture looks good at practice

Steve Addazio talks about the new additions on the staff.

Much has changed about Temple football spring practice in one year.
That big ugly project in the background has been replaced by beautiful buildings on one side.
On the other side, a $10 million addition to a 12-year-old $7 million football facility is going up (and will be done by fall practice).
Not only is the scenery looking good, Al Golden’s “core value” of stockpiling talent at the redshirt level is kicking in for the good of the team.
Expect many of the “true freshmen” who Golden redshirted (16 of them) two years ago to make an immediate impact. We’ll talk about those redshirts in the coming days.
So while the scenery around the practice field improves, so will the talent level on the field, despite whatever losses to graduation and NFL the Owls experience in April and May.

  1. will Coyer get challenged by either Juice or Newsome? is Juice accurate? when does Newsome get on campus? i thought he would be ready for spring practice? Coyer is going to have to make plays down the field in the passing game in order for us to win seven games this year.

  2. I watched every single college play of Newsome and I can't say I was overwhelmed by anything he did in the passing game. He seemed to look at his first read and then take off if it wasn't open. did not look like he looked off a single defender. I don't think Juice or Newsome will challenge Coyer who, IMHO, is a fantastic passer. Just look at the three throws he made in the Ohio game (deep over the shoulder to Streater, bullet down the middle to Deon Miller, bullet in the end zone to Joey Jones) all sensational passes. That said, I don't think Gerardi would have challenged Coyer, either.

  3. the three TOUCHDOWN throws, I meant
