Temple Football Forever 
I could not agree more, TFF. My 1st thought when seeing the ND announcement was, crap, we won't be playing them now. Temple needs to stay hungry and humble. I don't care if we continue to do 2 aways-1 home for a while, to get opportunities against the big boys. If we need to do the heavy lifting to move up in the world, so be it. SEC, B1G, BIGXII, bring 'em on.
Did you hear Jesse Palmer during the game between Rutgers and South Florida last night? I think it was the 4th quarter. They asked the triva question of what 5 teams, besides South Florida have never had a 1000 yard receiver. Jesse Palmer got all but one correct, with one of the correct answer being Temple. Before they revealed the answers, he said he thinks Temple will be one of them because they are new to the FBS. I like Jesse Palmer, but wow. Rece Davis quickly corrected him though. Clearly we need to work on our PR department.
Mike,.you are going to.come to realize that Bradshaw was short-sighted with the Bjg East deal. When (not if) Louisville and UConn leave for Big 12 and ACC respectively the BE will die quietly. Meanwhile the A10 is excellent in hoops and our football team hasn't proven a thing other than Bernard Pierce was special.
Temple might be new to the BCS, but is not new to FBS football, which the Owls have been playing since 1970. I think BB had no choice but to jump to the BE. We had to get out of the MAC and the BE was our only lifeline.I just hope enough of the pieces remain in place for the Owls to fill the LC with Georgetown, Seton Hall, UConn rather than Duquesne and the Bonnies.Football would have died in the MAC.
Hi Mike. I would have waited until Owls became dominant in MAC. Then we would have had options rather than jump on a sinking ship clinging to past glories. We tend to be rushing TU's "renaissance."
Us dominating the MAC was never a given.If we can't recruit in the BE with this dynamic personality leading the organization, with a brand new $17 million on-campus facility, we're not going to do anything.Anybody who spends any time with Steve Addazio wants to strap on the pads and go out there.I have to think recruits think the same way.We're in a great city in an era where kids want an urban experience.It's "cool" to come to Philly and play.Let's give Daz a chance to recruit to these advantages before we say we're in over our heads.
Hi Mike. TU is not over its head, but a 5 win season would be a major accomplishment. Have been around Daz quite a bit at ND. He can talk a hungry dog off a meat truck. I hope he can head.coach just as well. Not sure I buy your urban point, unless you consider Tuscaloosa, Gainesville and Columbia urban.
Columbia is urban. It's in NYC.(Only kidding, I know you mean, Columbia, S.C)My point on this was every survey indicates "regular students" prefer the urban location experience over Podunk middle of the state (read: Middle of Nowhere).This was not the case 20 years ago.I think this notion will eventually spread to football recruits as well.Philly is a world-class city.I expect Boston College, Miami and USC to similarly benefit in the not-so-distant future.
