Temple Football Forever 
Syracuse started the game against Pitt ranked 120th in the nation running the football. Very predictable outcome.
Every year one dimensional teams struggle in the second half of the season. And, stats tell us teams who struggle early in the season running the ball more often don’t improve.
Some get worse, Florida State is currently ranked 130th in team rushing. Yes, TUFB has a better running game than FSU going into Saturday!
TU must improve running the football in order to beat ECU on the road. The OL is not explosive, nor physically stout. They must pull and trap to be effective. They have not been able to zone block all year, they won’t do it on Saturday. Simon will get crushed again if the OL does not control the line of scrimmage.
They ran the ball effectively that way against UCONN and got away from it against Tulsa. Worthy is a special talent. They need to use him.
Brought this up on a prior post but why not go to a 2 back attack with Littleton being more of a fullback, lead blocker.
I don’t think Langsdorf knows how to use a fullback. Prove me wrong, Danny. Look what the Eagles did on Sunday. Put a backup LB in on offense at fullback for 5 plays and on three of them Barkley got chunk gains. Guy was celebrating every block like he scored a touchdown. Littleton could be a guy like that. Make him block and then reward him with the football in short-yardage situations.
Additionally, while I agree 100% that 5-7 has no real appeal, to me it would show it would show at least some level of improvement, especially if we are in every game the rest of the season and no more blow outs
I have this fear that if we finish 6-6 or even 5-7, the administration will decide to keep the current coaches in place to avoid having to pay the current coach and a new coach next year.
If I’m running things, I would fire at 5-7 and keep at 6-6 or better. I would also increase the police force from the 90 or so now to the 150 that were on staff when I went to Temple. That’s probably why I’m not running things. If Stan goes 6-6 or better, more than happy to keep him here despite taking way too long to get there.
Any other institution would fire Stan Drayton. Temple will not, the program is bleeding dollars.
They can’t afford to pay two HCs for two years.
Absent a scandal, they will sacrifice the reputation and brand until the end of Drayton’s contract.
The coach who follows Drayton will inherit bottom barrel. Drayton will leave TUFB in worse shape than Carey. Record, road wins, conference standing, etc.,etc.
KJ, didn’t think someone could leave the program in worse shape than Carey but it sure looks that way now. I can’t think of any other FBS program that would have a coach with a 3 year record of 9-27 come back for a 4th and probably 5th year. Really starting to feel the Drayton will be TUFBs last coach
